For China's Educated Single Ladies, Finding Love Is Often a Struggle
The Atlantic brought this article in 2011. We hear that nothing has changed - in fact it has become worse in many parts of China. What is your experience and advice? In a culture where women marry young and marry up, those who also want success for themselves frequently find that the deck is stacked against themSHANGHAI, China -- Wei Pan, a 33-year-old biomedical engineer can't seem to find Mr. Right. A fresh-faced woman with an M.D. and Ph.D. under her belt, Wei should have her pick of men. She has tried everything: online dating, set ups, social clubs like Toastmasters. She even took her search to the outdoor marriage market at Shanghai's People's Park, where, every weekend, parents of the
Are you a dreamer or a planner?

Why don't we accept social media login in the Educated Singles Club
It is very popular with social media login or social media signup when we register at websites. And some of our members have been asking us why we don't have that feature in Educated Singles Club when we ask prospective members for a link to their LinkedIn profile during the application process anyway. We don't use social media signup or login becauseIt would compromise our privacy rules. Every time you use your social media account to sign up or log in to a website you agree to pass on a lot of information to a third party. We don't want that - neither to give or receive information that way.It also creates an unfortunate bonding with a third party (a social media) that we cannot control. Th
The 5 major challenges for meeting educated singles and tips for how to succeed
Meeting other educated singles can be challengingYou appear to have everything in life. A great job, a good education and perhaps even some children. But you still feel you miss something, name a partner in life who matches you both emotionally, sexually and intellectually. This is a lot to ask for, but it is nevertheless what most of us are dreaming about. And a lot of people, especially you well-educated singles, are perfectly happy with being single. That goes for both men and women. Many of you do want a partner, but not at any price. That is because you are more independent than other social groups and you have a lot of their confidence in things you already have, namely your education
It's Not Your Imagination, Single Women: There Literally Aren't Enough Men Out There
From: Vice.comWe all have that friend: the beautiful, intelligent, driven woman who—like Katherine Heigl in every rom-com—can't find a decent date. Every guy she goes out with is an asshole; she consistently dates "below" her league, and she's on the verge of giving up on a committed relationship altogether. Not long after he turned 30, the writer Jon Birger realized he and his wife knew a lot of women like that. The couple didn't have a lot of single male friends left, but the many single women they knew all seemed to be buyers stuck in a seller's market. One of those friends, Birger told me, "had been dating a guy for a couple years. It certainly seemed like they were well on their way to
Most dating sites exploit your desire to find a partner
We have become used to free services. Social media profiles are free but still, the companies behind them are making a lot of money. How can that be? They earn their money partly from advertisers and partly from selling information about you to third party companies who can use that information for targeted marketing. Most dating sites are no different. They tempt you with free profiles. What do you have to lose? Everything. Many dating sites who are trying to lure information out of you have a lot of fake profiles and some of the have robots pretending to be users that send you messages if you haven’t logged in for a while. It is easy getting the feeling of being betrayed and exploited. If s
Travelling is great, but for some people, it can become a little too much and for others, it is a regular showstopper when it comes to starting a relationship. A lot of people travel very often for work, and not surprisingly it is the well-educated singles who travel the most. When you don't have a significant other person in your life it is both easy and convenient to throw your love at your work. These academic singles with international careers usually tell themselves that when they meet the right person they will travel less and change the priorities in their life. The only problem is, that despite all the great intentions, that it is very difficult to make these changes. The 1 million € question for well-educated singles
I have a great education, a great job but can't find a partner - why? We all have dreams in our lives - different dreams of course. A lot of people are dreaming about getting a great education, a great job and a great life partner.  Many of those people usually succeed in getting the first two by working hard. The recipe for fulfilling the third dream is a lot more complex, uncertain and diversified. That is one of the reasons why we believe that there are so many well-educated singles around the world. Educated people know that hard work usually leads to the desired result - except when it comes to relationships. We have interviewed more than 3000 well-educated singles in 8 countries who were
Nice, FRANCE- As the number of single women with high flying careers and higher levels of education grows, one online community is committed to offering a solution for women who have put the pursuit of love on hold in the pursuit of career and education. When looking for the ideal partner, soul mate or simply the opportunity to connect with a likeminded individual it can be difficult to meet like-minded people while pursuing further education or a high-powered career. This can be particularly challenging for women. By the time they climb to the top in their career, the field intellectual equals in which to find a soul mate is often significantly narrowed. Educated Singles is the brainchild o
Source: The Independent Women are put off from dating men who are either “too clever” or “too easy going”, a psychology study has found. The research found that while being intelligent and relaxed are desirable attributes in a prospective partner, it is nevertheless possible to have too much of a good thing. The study which looked at companion preferences discovered that while men and women find prospective partners more attractive as looks, intelligence, and “easy going” nature goes up, there is a threshold for women.  Read more here

Is it racism using the words whitelisting and blacklisting? Have your say
Right now there is a big and necessary movement to fight racism. Statues of people who have achieved their status through slavery are torn down, buildings are renamed, words are removed from dictionaries, songs are re-written, etc. That made us think, what about some of the terms we use. Terms like whitelisting and blacklisting. We use whitelisting to indicate that we have approved and acknowledged something, while we use blacklisting to indicate something bad, namely that something is potentially dangerous and has been excludedIf we should not use whitelisting and blacklisting, which words should we use instead? Se the example below from an internet security tester tool. Is it racism or not

Advantages of being together but living apart
For most people, it is natural that when you are a couple you live together. Yet, we also hear stories about couples who say that they have only been together for so many years because they were not together every day, usually because of one of them were working far from home for longer periods of time. We are of course all different with different preferences in life.It is, however, a fact, that the well-established ideas about how a couple should live together were created at a time where men and women didn't live together because of love. They lived together because it was the most practical setup for meeting the biological needs for shelter, safety, food and reproduction. The woman neede
