Comment to 'For how long have you been offline? Some of the discussions going on at the Educated Singles fora are about whether social media has improved our lives or the opposite. There seem to be a movement away from social media and focus on the real world instead. Yet, we use social media more than ever before. So we have a simple question for you that will serve as an input to the discussionQuestion: What is the longest period of time you have been voluntarily offline within the past year?As we want as many and diversified answers as possible we will be grateful if you will share this poll on - yes - social media - sorry!'
I am on Facebook daily because I have a dog with multiple medical conditions and the members of groups for dogs with these conditions know more about treatment than the specialty vets seem to know. I find out about new medications and supplements, as well as what to worry about and what I can just ignore. (And while I do believe in science and respect the excellent training these vets have, they also seem to know very little about things outside their area of expertise.) I am also in a number of groups for Americans living in France because when I'm free to travel again, I intend to move there and the information people in these groups provide is incredibly helpful. I also watch a lot of legal webinars online - there is so much going on right now and hearing the views of people who are experts in their fields (election law, Constitutional law) keeps me informed.
